Speak Clearly

Speak Clearly

When expecting our staff members or co-workers to be clear it is important that we consider a few things before we criticize.

Consider: Is English a second language?

Do they understand the issues we are discussing?

Have we been clear in our explanations to them?

Once we have answered important questions address the issues.

Keep our focus on the problem not the person.

Practice parroting or paraphrasing to be sure we have a basic understanding before we address the miscommunication.

Empower people with ideas on how to address it in the future to be sure we do not have miscommunication.

Always check to be sure we are on the same page in our understanding in the future.
