When and how to use humor in the workplace

Humor is a touchy subject. Should you want to tell a joke or say something that may be funny…If you ever have to look around to see who may be listening and if someone did over hear it would be offended…DON’T SAY IT!

Here are a few ways humor can be used:

Learn to laugh at yourself or focus the laughs on yourself

Watch that you are not being sarcastic or saying something under your breath that sounds stealthy.

Always remember that what we may find funny isn’t always funny to other people.

Use appropriate humor to deflect conflict and reduce tension.

Learn to laugh at your mistakes and just laugh. Others like to be around people who find life fun…rather than complaining or finding fault.

Avoid hot buttons when you are trying to be funny. It may be unrepairable.
